Carlo: a tribute to the street performers of Florence

Carlo captures the soul of a Tuscan street musician lost in his song. Inspired by a real encounter in Florence’s upscale district, this piece celebrates the quiet charisma of an accordion player performing for passing tourists and collecting coins in a humble cigar box.

Rather than interrupt, I offered a one-euro tip in exchange for a photo that later became this expressive work. Dusty blues and deep navy contrast with warm yellows, oranges, and a bold pop of red on the accordion, while drips, polka dots, and bursts of texture bring the rhythm of the moment to life. I named the musician “Carlo” as a gesture of familiarity, honoring the unseen lives behind public performances.

UV Varnish

4 coats of UV-blocking acrylic varnish form a permanent, non-removable film that resists yellowing and fogging.

How to Purchase

Transit times (continental US)

Damage in transit
