Story & Inspiration

This portrait of golfer Jon Rahm captures his first PGA Tour win at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open. Rahm hails from Spain and is a fellow Arizona State University alum, commissioned by the sports marketing agency SportFive in Scottsdale, led by former ASU Men’s Head Golf Coach and National Champion Steve Loy, who also represents Phil Mickelson and other PGA stars.

Rahm earned his nickname “Rahmbo” from his college teammates, a nod to his last name and his intense, powerful, determined playing style, reminiscent of the action movie character. Bold brushstrokes, drips, and polka dots build a sense of energy in the background to match. He won that first PGA Tour title on January 29, 2017, at 22 years old, shooting a seven-under-par 65 in the final round at Torrey Pines and sealing the victory with a 60-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole. At Arizona State from 2012 to 2016, Rahm won eleven individual tournaments, the second-most in school history behind only Phil Mickelson, becoming the first player ever to win the Ben Hogan Award twice and holding the world’s No. 1 amateur ranking for a record 60 weeks.
