Story & Inspiration

Ryan O’Reilly Compilation captures his full Stanley Cup Playoff experience, from winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as postseason MVP to sporting his iconic black hat at the championship parade. I painted this piece live at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis to raise money for Duo Dogs, Inc.

The abstract background moves through Blues blue, orange, and warm yellow, a sense of energy and excitement built for a playoff run that ended in a Stanley Cup. O’Reilly’s trade to St. Louis on July 1, 2018, sent Tage Thompson, Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka, and two draft picks to Buffalo, setting the stage for a historic 2018-19 season in which he helped lead the Blues from worst in the league to first-ever Stanley Cup champions, won the Conn Smythe Trophy after tying for the most points in the postseason, and captured the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward.
