When Lionel Messi announced his decision to join Inter Miami in 2023, he set off a frenzy that went far beyond South Florida, sparking excitement throughout the soccer world. Fans from all over the United States flooded the Fort Lauderdale based stadium, donning Messi jerseys and waving flags, capturing the anticipation of his debut that felt like a Hollywood storyline come to life. 

On July 21, 2023, when Messi made his iconic first appearance, the atmosphere was charged as fans packed the stadium, watching history unfold as one of the greatest players of all time joined Major League Soccer. 

Fast forward to Fall 2024, and Inter Miami, with Messi leading the way, has made its second playoff appearance in the history of the club, against Atlanta United.  This isn’t just a playoff series; it’s a milestone for the MLS and the journey of American soccer. The once distant dream of Messi playing stateside has become a rallying point for soccer in the U.S., proving the power of global talent can uplift the league. With each game, Messi has injected a newfound intensity and magic, drawing record viewership and creating a cultural shift that’s driving soccer deeper into America’s mainstream.
