Tuscan Afternoon: Where the Hills Breathe Color
Tuscan Afternoon captures the quiet majesty of the rolling countryside just beyond Florence, a region where time slows and light spills across the land like a warm invitation. Set against the soft backdrop of distant mountains, the scene showcases bold brushstrokes and vertical drips that echo the iconic cypress trees lining Tuscany’s winding roads. This piece evokes the warmth, elegance, and deep-rooted beauty of the Chianti region, where vineyards, villas, and golden skies tell their own stories. A tribute to natural rhythm and rural stillness, this painting turns any wall into a window to a peaceful Tuscan escape.
Inside the Art: The Story Behind Tuscan Afternoon
Tuscan Afternoon by Kyle Lucks is a vibrant, expressive tribute to the timeless beauty of the Tuscan countryside. Painted as part of Lucks’ acclaimed Tuscany, Italy series, this piece transports viewers to the rolling hills just outside Florence, home to the iconic Chianti region, where villas and vineyards stretch for miles under the golden afternoon sun. Layered brushwork and signature drips evoke the rhythmic movement of tall cypress trees and textured land, while the soft silhouettes of distant mountains add serenity and depth.
This painting captures more than just a scenic view - it conveys the sensory experience of Tuscany itself: the warmth of terracotta, the whisper of wind through vines, and the stillness of a sun-soaked hillside. The palette balances rich greens with warm, sunlit earth tones, creating a piece that feels both grounded and uplifting.
Whether displayed as a giclée print or acquired as the original, Tuscan Afternoon brings a refined sense of place and a painterly appreciation for Italian landscapes into your home or collection. Ideal for lovers of travel, nature, and expressive modern art with cultural significance.

Print Technique & Materials
Prints are reproductions of original paintings using a high-quality inkjet printing technique known as "giclee."
Unframed and framed artwork is printed on archival cotton rag paper, which is acid free and will resist fading and discoloration for generations. Unframed prints on paper are unsigned and feature a 1.5"-2" white border around the image. Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
All framing is custom made to the exact specifications of each image, with an acid-free white mat and acrylic glazing (glass is prone to breaking when shipped). Most prints are non-traditional sizes and will not fit properly in mats or frames purchased off the shelf, therefore custom framing is recommended.
Canvas prints are referred to as "gallery-wrapped" because the color or image wraps around the sides of the canvas and it is stapled on the back. The canvas is wrapped around 1.5" deep wood stretcher bars and arrives ready to hang.
Framed canvas prints feature a "float frame," which has a 0.25" gap between the edge of the canvas and the frame moulding. The frame is 2" deep.
Custom Mat for Unframed Paper
Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
You can purchase a custom mat from your local frame shop or online. If online, we suggest Matboard & More. Choose Arctic White in Decorative Quality, or if you prefer to upgrade, select White Art in Conservation Quality.
