A Path to the Duomo: A glimpse through Florence’s heartbeat
From a narrow street buzzing with locals, bikes, and international students, A Path to the Duomo captures a fleeting yet iconic view of Florence’s beloved basilica. With its massive orange dome rising in the distance, the composition reflects a city full of motion, history, and wonder. Lucks blends architectural detail with expressive brushwork, creating a piece that feels both grounded and atmospheric. It’s a tribute to the way Florence reveals itself - one street, one corner, one step at a time.
Inside the Art: The Story Behind A Path to the Duomo
A Path to the Duomo brings the viewer into a quintessential Florentine moment: walking through one of the city’s energetic side streets as the world-famous Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore reveals itself in the distance. Painted by Kyle Lucks as part of his Tuscany, Italy series, this piece blends dynamic street life with historic reverence. The bold strokes and textured palette mirror the energy of Florence itself: a mix of Renaissance grandeur and modern movement.
The Duomo, completed in 1436 and still holding the title of the largest masonry dome in the world, looms like a compass for those navigating Florence’s charming alleys. Lucks captures this balance of intimacy and scale with warm hues, layered architectural lines, and the feel of late afternoon light. The result is a vibrant work that transports the viewer - especially those who’ve walked these cobbled streets - into a moment that feels both personal and universal.

Print Technique & Materials
Prints are reproductions of original paintings using a high-quality inkjet printing technique known as "giclee."
Unframed and framed artwork is printed on archival cotton rag paper, which is acid free and will resist fading and discoloration for generations. Unframed prints on paper are unsigned and feature a 1.5"-2" white border around the image. Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
All framing is custom made to the exact specifications of each image, with an acid-free white mat and acrylic glazing (glass is prone to breaking when shipped). Most prints are non-traditional sizes and will not fit properly in mats or frames purchased off the shelf, therefore custom framing is recommended.
Canvas prints are referred to as "gallery-wrapped" because the color or image wraps around the sides of the canvas and it is stapled on the back. The canvas is wrapped around 1.5" deep wood stretcher bars and arrives ready to hang.
Framed canvas prints feature a "float frame," which has a 0.25" gap between the edge of the canvas and the frame moulding. The frame is 2" deep.
Custom Mat for Unframed Paper
Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
You can purchase a custom mat from your local frame shop or online. If online, we suggest Matboard & More. Choose Arctic White in Decorative Quality, or if you prefer to upgrade, select White Art in Conservation Quality.
