A Swan in Palm Beach
This portrait combines the facial features and accessories of Truman Capote’s elegant “swans,” prominent socialites in the 1960s and 70s. The influential jetsetters graced the world’s most glamorous cities with their presence, including “America’s First Resort Destination,” Palm Beach, Florida. She is depicted with a faint smirk as she admires illustrious Worth Avenue and its landmark clock tower. The background is inspired by Lilly Pulitzer, who established her brand in Palm Beach, and the band on her hat is a pattern of swans.
Note: Gallery-wrapped canvas is only available in 16x24, 20x30, and 24x36. The spot varnish is only on the original painting and not the prints.
Original SOLD to a private collector.
Print Technique & Materials
Prints are reproductions of original paintings using a high-quality inkjet printing technique known as "giclee."
Unframed and framed artwork is printed on archival cotton rag paper, which is acid free and will resist fading and discoloration for generations. Unframed prints on paper are unsigned and feature a 1.5"-2" white border around the image.
All framing is custom made to the exact specifications of each image, with an acid-free white mat, black moulding, and acrylic glazing (glass is prone to breaking when shipped). Most prints are non-traditional sizes and will not fit properly in mats or frames purchased off the shelf, therefore custom framing is necessary.
Canvas prints are referred to as "gallery-wrapped" because the color or image wraps around the sides of the canvas and it is stapled on the back. The canvas is wrapped around 1.5" deep wood stretcher bars and arrives ready to hang.
