Holly Golightly, reimagined on Worth Avenue

Audrey on Worth Avenue reimagines Audrey Hepburn’s iconic Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, relocated from the window of Tiffany’s flagship store on 5th Avenue to the brand’s Palm Beach location on Worth Avenue, visible in the reflection of her sunglasses.

Inside the Art: The Story Behind Audrey on Worth Avenue

The painting draws directly from the 1961 film classic, based on Truman Capote’s 1958 novella, right down to the details. Holly’s cat, simply named “Cat” in the movie, appears worked into the background as the darker of two shapes. On the original painting, the diamonds in her hair, earrings, and necklace are encrusted with real diamond dust.

The background began as a non-objective painting in inks of orange and yellow, later complemented by the blue that sits on top. Those underlying colors show through the subject, most visibly in her black gloves and dress, giving the dark fabric more depth and personality than a flat black ever could. Breakfast at Tiffany’s remains one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic comedies, famous for Hepburn’s pearl necklaces, oversized sunglasses, and cigarette holder, all still copied today, along with Henry Mancini’s Academy Award-winning score and the timeless hit “Moon River.”
