Il Giornale: Morning Shadows in Firenze

Il Giornale captures the essence of a quiet morning in Florence, blending fashion, architecture, and atmosphere into a single moment. Part of my Tuscany, Italy series, the title, which means “the newspaper” in Italian, sets the scene: a well-dressed businessman pauses in the early light to read the day’s headlines, surrounded by the historic charm of narrow alleyways and textured city walls.

A crisp white backdrop and a vibrant street sign draw the eye, while deep shadows and warm light carve out dimension and mood. The man’s dark silhouette offers contrast against the subtle energy of the background, where abstract brushwork and layered texture reflect the rhythm of the waking city. Raw, unbleached 12 oz. cotton canvas. Stretched by hand and primed with two coats of premium, artist-grade gesso.

Wood Stretcher Bars

Made from solid, knot-free pine sourced and milled in the U.S. Heavy-duty bars resist warping and maintain canvas tension.

UV Varnish

4 coats of UV-blocking acrylic varnish form a permanent, non-removable film that resists yellowing and fogging.

How to Purchase

You may reserve the painting, which will direct you to a page to enter your email and shipping address so we can create a shipping quote.
We will email you an invoice for the painting and shipping, which you may pay by credit card, bank transfer or wire.

Shipping & Handling

• Once your payment is received, the painting will ship insured within 2-3 business days.

Transit times (continental US)
• UPS Ground: usually 3–7 business days in transit.

Damage in transit
• If your painting arrives damaged, email info@kylelucks.com immediately with photos of the damage and packaging.
• We will file a claim with the carrier and repair or replace as needed.
