Story & Inspiration

Ryan O’Reilly “Stanley Cup Champions” was painted live and auctioned at the 2020 World Pediatric Project’s Treasures in Paradise to raise money for critically ill children in the Caribbean and Central America. The piece features O’Reilly in his away white jersey, since the Blues won the Cup in Boston, hoisting the sterling silver trophy over his head.

A bold mix of blue and warm yellow brushstrokes backs the composition, capturing the energy of O’Reilly’s first Stanley Cup championship. His trade to St. Louis on July 1, 2018, set the stage for the historic 2018-19 season: a worst-to-first turnaround that ended with the franchise’s first Stanley Cup title, a Conn Smythe Trophy for O’Reilly as postseason MVP after tying for the most points in the playoffs, and a Frank J. Selke Trophy for his elite two-way play.
