The Jumper: Bold Equestrian Art Inspired by Olympic Show Jumping in Wellington, Florida
The Jumper captures the power, precision, and deep connection between an elite show jumper and their horse. Inspired by the world-renowned equestrian scene in Wellington, Florida, Kyle Lucks brings the moment to life with bold color, layered textures, and expressive marks, like drips, splatter, and polka dots, to convey the speed and intensity of elite show jumping. The vibrant background pushes through the figures, adding depth and emotional movement. This energetic composition honors the athleticism of horse and rider while celebrating the spirit of Palm Beach County’s equestrian legacy.
Inside the Art: The Story Behind The Jumper
The Jumper by Kyle Lucks is a bold, expressive tribute to the speed, power, and precision of Olympic show jumping. This dynamic painting honors the athleticism and split-second timing required in the sport, set against the vibrant energy of Wellington, Florida - widely known as the “Winter Equestrian Capital of the World.”
Though Kyle didn’t grow up around horses, their strength and presence captivated him after relocating to Palm Beach County. As a lifelong sports fan, he felt drawn to the intensity and rhythm of equestrian competition, shifting his focus from painting baseball and hockey players to capturing the grace and grit of tennis and equestrian athletes. That fascination is evident in The Jumper. The horse, though not painted at life size, still feels monumental and commanding.
Vibrant colors break through the form of horse and rider, while drips, splatters, and polka dots inject movement and emotion into the scene. Lucks doesn’t just freeze an image, he paints the adrenaline, the focus, and the connection between horse and human. Every stroke is a nod to the drama, harmony, and larger-than-life magic of world-class show jumping.

Print Technique & Materials
Prints are reproductions of original paintings using a high-quality inkjet printing technique known as "giclee."
Unframed and framed artwork is printed on archival cotton rag paper, which is acid free and will resist fading and discoloration for generations. Unframed prints on paper are unsigned and feature a 1.5"-2" white border around the image. Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
All framing is custom made to the exact specifications of each image, with an acid-free white mat and acrylic glazing (glass is prone to breaking when shipped). Most prints are non-traditional sizes and will not fit properly in mats or frames purchased off the shelf, therefore custom framing is recommended.
Canvas prints are referred to as "gallery-wrapped" because the color or image wraps around the sides of the canvas and it is stapled on the back. The canvas is wrapped around 1.5" deep wood stretcher bars and arrives ready to hang.
Framed canvas prints feature a "float frame," which has a 0.25" gap between the edge of the canvas and the frame moulding. The frame is 2" deep.
Custom Mat for Unframed Paper
Most unframed prints are non-standard sizes and will require a custom mat to properly display the artwork, though the outer dimensions of the mat will fit standard frame sizes.
You can purchase a custom mat from your local frame shop or online. If online, we suggest Matboard & More. Choose Arctic White in Decorative Quality, or if you prefer to upgrade, select White Art in Conservation Quality.
