The Jumper: Bold Equestrian Art Inspired by Olympic Show Jumping in Wellington, Florida

The Jumper is my bold, expressive tribute to the speed, power, and precision of Olympic show jumping. This dynamic painting honors the athleticism and split-second timing required in the sport, set against the vibrant energy of Wellington, Florida, widely known as the “Winter Equestrian Capital of the World.” Though I didn’t grow up around horses, their strength and presence captivated me after relocating to Palm Beach County.

As a lifelong sports fan, I felt drawn to the intensity and rhythm of equestrian competition, shifting my focus from painting baseball and hockey players to capturing the grace and grit of tennis and equestrian athletes. That fascination is evident in The Jumper. The horse, though not painted at life size, still feels monumental and commanding. Vibrant colors break through the form of horse and rider, while drips, splatters, and polka dots inject movement and emotion into the scene. I don’t just freeze an image, I paint the adrenaline, the focus, and the connection between horse and human. Every stroke is a nod to the drama, harmony, and larger-than-life magic of world-class show jumping.
