Story & Inspiration

Tom Brady #1 is the first of my paintings of the most accomplished quarterback to ever play the game, rendered with the same ever-stoic calm Brady brought to two decades of football. A background of navy, red, gray, and white nods to the Patriots’ team colors.

Drips, splatters, and polka dots add energy and visual texture that shows through the subject on top, echoing the intensity beneath Brady’s composed exterior. Drafted in the sixth round, 199th overall, in 2000, Brady took over as starting quarterback in 2001 after an injury to Drew Bledsoe and won a championship that same season, the beginning of 20 seasons in New England that produced six Super Bowl titles, nine Super Bowl appearances, and 17 AFC East division titles.
