Bringing Home the Cup captures one of the most iconic moments of the St. Louis Blues’ Stanley Cup celebration: Patrick Maroon, a St. Louis native, holding the Cup on the flight home from Boston, seated next to Conn Smythe winner Ryan O’Reilly, who’s drinking a Guinness in a nod to his Irish heritage. I painted the piece live and auctioned it on the rooftop of the Angad Arts Hotel to benefit STL Impact.
The Blues won the Cup in Boston, which meant the celebration started in the air before it ever touched down in St. Louis. The party continued once the plane landed, through the championship parade and into bars, restaurants, and businesses across the city, as loyal Blues fans celebrated a title decades in the making alongside the team that finally delivered it.
